Hello Fellow GoG'ers

I was looking through my physical game collection, as you do every now & then. My copy of Richard Burns Rally has a small crack in the center of the disc(approx 5mm), guess it has cracked just sitting in the case(has happened to DVD's that I own in the past).

How do i make a copy of this game into an ISO, so I can preserve it, as I still play it to this day with RSRBR installed.

This forum doesn't deal in those aspects of gaming, or at least it didn't the last time I posted here regularly. You should google it.

So, to create an image of a disc you own, you need the required software to both create the image and load the image. Me, I always image my physical games and then install from the image, some of the games like diablo hellfire is far too rare and valuable to risk. This is however a bit grey, you are entitled to make a backup of the product you own, and as things move you may also need to add in nocd patches to keep things working, win10 for instance removed securom support (which is good but does mean a lot no longer work). Legally it's a bit up in the air, it for me if you have brought it then you should be able to use it.
So to this end if you own it, then get a disc image software, Nero is one big name, me I use an older one (can't remember the name) but there are many others both paid and free. Then grab an image mounting software so you can use the resulting images, again daemon tools is a famous name, but I use a different one. I can update the post with what I use once I get home(aww for th week) but I think it is wincdemu.
I would just add to only do this for games you brought of course. And sometimes it's easier just it buy a new copy off gog if they have it.

Have had a search about wincdemu & it is recommended by others, I have downloaded it & will have a go at it tonight.

Am still on Windows 7, won't go to 10 because all my physical games don't work with it + I don't like it either :).

Thank you for the reply as well, will let you know how I get on.
Just to note wncdemu is only for loading the image, you need software to rip the image file from your cd. Clonecd, that's the one I have used, although it might have gone a bit bloated recently.
CDBurnerXP has worked for me in the past: https://cdburnerxp.se/

I'm just hoping your DVD is still readable. Good luck!

Was able to make an ISO with this program, Right clicked the DVD & it gave you the option to do so. Have done a quick test & it's all good. Thank you very much.

Thankfully it was still readable, although when it was spinning in the drive, I was praying that it wasn't going to shatter, it was spinning so fast. Thank you
A shattering cd/dvd may well destroy the station as well but those are replacable while some cds are hard to find.

Sweet, glad to hear it worked out :)
