Harshax: Says who? All Im seeing is news articles from back in 2012 saying he is trying to, and in 2014 when the IP expired because SEGA did not do anything with it.

snowkatt: says suzuki http://segabits.com/blog/2014/11/13/yu-suzuki-shares-details-of-shenmue-iii-and-beyond-in-new-shenmue-dojo-interview/

http://shenmuedojo.net/new/extras/interview1114.html

http://www.gamespot.com/forums/system-wars-314159282/yu-suzuki-teases-shenmue-at-e3-32137696/

and if thats not good enough
why in the hell woudl he hold a kickstarter for shenmue 3 if he didnt own the damn IP ?
just to curry favor with sega ?
Did you read the interview? Here is what he said regarding SEGA.

Yu Suzuki : Fans from all around the world have kept providing me support and I can't thank them enough. About Shenmue, Sega is not a problem at all. For Shenmue III, we need to define a specific budget and if I can gather enough for it, Sega will allow me to do it.

I am pretty sure that Sega doesn't want to take any financial risks regarding Shenmue. That's why I have to gather the necessary budget for it. Anyway, even if I would like to work on other projects beside Shenmue, if I ever get the opportunity to work on the 3rd part, I will do it. And to be honest, I do not think that anyone else can properly accomplish Shenmue III the way I'd like to do it.
If he gets a big enough budget, SEGA will let him make Shenmue 3. SEGA still owns the rights to Shenmue. SEGA will in some way be involved in Shenmue 3.

And did you read that Gamespot page either? Look at the image at the bottom showing the game case. Guess who's name is in the bottom right corner.

Well this would be nice. Only problem now is, it's been well over 10 yrs since I finished both games.
Never played the first two, so unless they are planning on porting them to the PC as well, I doubt I will even bother with this one.

it's a shame really, they've got very good stories. Though you could very likely just play them with a dreamcast emulator.
I likes!

Do the Dreamcast emulators even work well? Even if they do, the first is being sold for over £30 and the second for close to £60. :/

Story-wise, the 2.5m stretch goal ought to cover you. If I understand it right, they will release movies that are composed of the more cinematic portions of the first two Shenmue games.

Still, I hope that they go ahead and remake the first two games. That would make it easier to get into Shenmue III, and give the series a long tail on the PC.
I got a message back that the vendor for the PC version has not been decided, but there are no plans for a DRM free version. =\

The game has been funded. I wish Gog negotiates with them as well as did with bloodstained.
hi. everybody!
Holy crap!

(what about the Rare Replay compilation? THAT was the best of E3 so far, imho :P)

Nah, I want the real deal. A synopsis is fine and all, but it's not a substitute for the games.

battletoads :)

wizisi2k: I think they are willing. The thing is, I think Sony (or whoever's backing this as well) needs to see fan support. That is why it is stated if it fails, no more Shenmue.

Elenarie: For which you do not use Kickstarter. You have data analysts, marketing people, PR people, business intelligence people, and you ignore all these to go on a third party service and ask for money to fund a game while you have all the money in the world to fund that game yourself? Flip off!

(you != you, but you get what I mean :p)
Yeah, this smacks of shamelessly lazy risk-aversion on the part of Sony. Gamers assume all of the risk, Gamers assume all of the responsibility for funding, and Sony reaps the rewards.

"But who cares, we're getting a new Shenmue game!"

Ugh. Fanboys. Yet another example of how they're helping to drive the industry into the ground.

Yeah, but for me it's way more than "just" that! :)
It's probably the best collection I've, since it spans 30 years and +10 systems. And the price, my lord...
