Lost Eden, a first-person adventure in a world full of sentient dinosaurs and ancient legends is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com.

This one dates back to the glory days of adventure games, when stories were bizarre, characters were intriguing, and dinosaurs still walked the earth. Amidst the strife and despair, Adam of Mo must search for the secret of his grandfather, the only man who held the key to uniting the two species and bringing prosperity to the land. Talking pterodactyls, comely ladies, peculiar creatures, blood-thirsty villains, world-changing revelations hidden in our hero's bloodline - this epic fantasy has it all! Can you solve the puzzles, navigate the strange encounters, and leave your mark upon this Lost Eden?

Make humans and dinosaurs work together in harmony as you strive to usher a new era of peace upon the Lost Eden, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Matruchus: [...] The thread intro picture made me believe that its a new epic dinosaur adventure game. And then I see its one of the great oldies. [...]
The price should've been a clue. ;P
Didn't bought the game back than because of the not very promising reviews (great cutsequences and good sound but boring and repetitive gameplay).
I'll give this a miss till its a freebie in the next sale.
not a great game by any stretch, but an interesting plot thread and beautiful music.

as others have mentioned: the puzzles are sort of repetitive and the solutions to problems are generally fairly easy to come by [as adventure games go.]

the ending is SURPRISINGLY somber.

but you're really here for the music. go listen. stephan picq is AMAZING. [i think i spelt his name correctly.] - some very enigma-like sounding stuff on this soundtrack. [too bad it's not actually included, here, other than as in-game songs.]

But...the rose-colored memories of all those who played it as young children, or for whom it was one of their first PC games, can't possibly be wrong!

True, and back then there were many more AAA games released which only had good cutscenes and music but the rest was awfull.
Even in the good old days lots of 'inferior' games were released, but we had lots of very good new games released to compensate that.

Today its almost the other way : sometimes real gems are released while the majority is average.
In the past i always had cashflow problems :D, the last decade, there hasnt been any good commercial game of AAA status released that i would buy, thats why i turned to the so called casual games: you cant compare these poor things to AAA but they can be lots of fun and the highest price is around 15 euros :D .

I got myself loads of very good old and good new games in 2014, 2015 was still good but less, I dont know what the industry released but 2016 was a very bad year for me to buy games that i actually can play and like to play.
I hope 2017 will turn around 180 degrees and many more good old games and good new games will be released , i have great expectations, but time will tell ... :D

More Cryo games please!
Interplay keeps churning out these releases I'm still not interested in. Bravo, I guess. So far GOG keeps striking out for me in the release-department. Sure, there are a couple of games I threw on my wishlist, but none of the releases thus far have given me that "must have/really really want to play" feeling yet.

Fuck that. Even my own nostalgia can't sway me much anymore. Most old games are just plain old.

At last! Very glad to see this one finally find its way here!

Keep on working on shortening that "still missing Cryo Interactive" list.

You are right, but in defense to the old games and their notalgia i can tell that many of today games are downright crappy, shovelware as they call it, Steam is the number one example of how many shovelware was released the last decade, take some time to browse all the games, filter out the dlc and demos and videos, and even if you filter on english only you will still notice there will be loads of shovelware.

I'm a complete moron when it comes to making .gifs and whatnot but I'd love to see the GOG logo on this chef's (or whatever the heck he is ;P) shirt while he's sprinkling some, uh, "Cryo salt" into our meaty game shelves. I mean it.
Would be so kickass... oh almighty .gif makers, please enlighten my path!

It wasn't a hard choice, instabuy! :D
Looks like 2017 is going to be the year of (more) Interplay on gog. Neuromancer next, please! More Star Trek would also be highly appreciated!

Apparently it's also a world full of copy-pasta bikini models... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Very nice, I really loved this game back in the day. Of course it's not what one would consider a masterpiece, I knew that even back in the day, but my reasons for liking it are only half nostalgia.

It's short, not very deep, and the puzzles don't make much sense. But what it has is loads of atmosphere, from Stéphane Picq's soundtrack to a peculiar and nice but melancholy plot (I don't remember much in particular, but do remember goosebumps), and of course beautiful environments – this was one of those Cryo rendering showcases, after all.

Oh, and another nostalgic reason for me to like it might be that I first played this game back in elementary school, borrowing the CD from a girl I had a crush on =)

The casual games, meme games on Steam, etc. mentioned in this thread really make me agree: games like this might not have aged terribly well, but they still compare favourably to a lot of current stuff, for anyone who allows themselves to accept the lower level of graphics and sound tech. Having been developed by a professional studio, the game has a concept and a style, is finished and coherent, which is more than you can say about a lot of stuff that is released these days. Like those casual game studios that employ one decent artist, buy some library music, but have no one who knows how to put it together into a game, yet they churn out a dozen of them per year. I'll take games like Lost Eden over those, thanks.
