Serren: Hi all,

Is there a command line parameter to prevent gog.com game installers from automatically installing Visual C++ redistributables?

I removed a ton of duplicate and obsolete Visual C++ redistributable installs placed on my PC by gog.com games and manually installed only the latest versions of both x86 and x86-64 of each release year (2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015) due to stability issues. Since the cleanup, everything has been flawless, but many times when I go to install another gog.com game, it doesn't even check to see if I already have the necessary redistributables installed and tries to install an obsolete or duplicate version again.

Really it would be best for the gog.com installers to ask or have a checkbox before doing such a thing, but I wonder if there is already a way to prevent this with an installer parameter or something. If it's possible, please let me know.

Thanks.
I would be careful with removing those redistributables as we've found that some games will only work with very specific versions of some redistributable runtimes and they will not work with newer versions. I am not sure which exact games but I know there were some amongst the older titles.
