Tomorrow is actually a super great time to start for me. I've a week off right now, and I just managed to get my programming computer back up and running.

Hopefully I'll get the blog and forum integration just like I want it until tomorrow. If not, hope to at least make them consistent when it comes to branding/theme & you'll just get to suffer for a tiny bit of time.

If you want a bit more control of the color scheme (and you still want to use my banner), here are two transparent versions, one in black, one in white.

Thanks! Actually the first blue on fits pretty nicely into the theme, followed by banner3. So far we're sticking with the original, and we can change to the other one if needed.

Right now I'm working on two fronts: on the design part I'm working on wrapping the phpBB install in the main Wordpress theme; this should be done relatively easily as I only need to transition the header and maybe sidebar over.

The next thing on the list is auto-posting in the forums when a new blog post is made; I want this in order to replace the Wordpress comment system with the forums, which will be better suited for long discussions and quoting and the rest.

So far I can post updates in the forum as long as they don't contain code that is syntax highlighted, which will be a good chunk of the content on the blog, so the first step is dismantle the plugin that does the cross-posting and see how I can make it work properly with phpBB.

oops... i see you guys are past this but i liked wish's little controller icon when he submitted the first one, and being a design student i get compulsions when i see a graphic i like, so i messed around with the header for fun

edit: i have a suggestion--if it's possible could you remove all those little facebook and twitter and other sharing links that show up on every wordpress layout? there's so many of them they clutter the whole page up

Mind if I join in the insanity. I'm a computer science student and I wouldn't mind putting my developing programming skills to use for something a little more fun. I'm more familar with java than C++, but the two languages are very similar from what I've seen.
Or is it too late, I know I'm late to the party.

Very well guys, I hope AndrewC won't murder me for posting it before he's finished, but I really want to start today and I'll be leaving my computer in about 30 minutes. So, remember: The whole thing is about communication, so ask, ask, ask away! Yes, you could have found tutorials yourselves, however you woudln't be able to share the learning with others. And please, PLEASE, don't kill me for anything, I've never done this in my life :D Post some feedback (and I'm not sure if comments section works yet, Andrew is still working on it, so eh... Don't post comments to blog posts, if you'd like to ask something, head directly to the forums and comment blog posts here for now)

Okay, I have succeeded in creating a "Hello World" program. Yay me! :)

Note to other participants: If you are like me (i.e. eager to start, but not _that_ much experienced with blogs), be aware that there are three articles in the blog already, and that you're supposed to read the one at the _bottom_ first (and then work your way up). It's totally possible to do it the other way round (as I found out ;) ), but it's slightly easier to go from the bottom up.
