@Wishbone: Yep, exactly my feelings. :)

Btw, I noticed that some of us haven't posted any solutions or questions yet. While there's still a lot of time to do either, I'd just like to restate that no one needs to be shy asking questions. :) I noticed that the tutorial we're using might (in some places) be a bit hard for people totally new to programming, since it tries to be a reference as well as a tutorial (so it sometimes clutters the tutorial with stuff that's not needed right now). But that's nothing that a group of motivated learners can't overcome. :)

Will the blog and forums stay up once the course is over for future reference? I can't really participate currently since I'd like to finish my other course before starting on this one.

Well, the way I imagine this will go is that we finish the C++ tutorial, get stuck into SDL some, then do the mentioned introductory game projects individually (Tetris, platformer). After that, unless my powers of prediction are way off, we'll form a number of project groups to make more advanced (or at least more fleshed-out) games. After that, all bets are off, but if enough of us stick with it, I think we will see some mighty interesting things come out of this.

I'm guessing this project will run for a long time. I can't imagine the blog and the forum just disappearing overnight.
I just leave this here

So how is going?
Hmm, this thread didn't seem to get bumped by the last three replies. I wonder if it's still bugged.

I think it's going very well. People are doing programming exercises right now, comparing solutions to problems and discussing the merits of various techniques.
I've never programmed, but I've started learning a bit of Python. It's really fun to learn so far... is this a good choice?

Python is a fantastic language for learning. It's replacing Java as the first language taught in many institutions. It generally reinforces good habits and rewards your effort quickly.

Excellent choice. The only possible problem is you might start seeing any other language as bad...

Reminds me of this comic.
Ummm... Guys? Is someone still following the blog except for 3 people that responded? Anyone? Becaue I'd really like to know when to jump at SDL...

I stopped for about a week due to having other responsibilities, but will probably get back on again this weekend. Don't wait for me with regard to SDL; if I get back on, I'll be able to catch up.
I'm still studying the tutorial, but I don't know if I can end it before this weekend. But, if the others want to go on, I will recuperate the loss of time asap

Well, the blog posts don't show up in the forum, and there's still no link from the forum to the blog, so... Well, I don't read it, anyway. I was under the impression that we were taking things slow. You said for us to do the first two exercises by the end of last week, so I expected something similar this week.
