After I download scummvm daily snapshot it says this file is not commonly downloaded and may harm my computer is this true could it harm my computer?
The daily snapshot software, also known as developer version, generally have newer stuff or improvements but are sadly unstable, i don't think it would harm your PC afaik. But if you decide to use it, expect some issues that are more common than the normal, stable ones.
Teach your PC some Kung-Fu, no one or nothing will harm it ever again.

That you have to ask indicates that the developers believe you should not be using this version of their software. The warning is working as intended.

Yes, it's theoretically possible for software to have bugs that are so bad that they can damage hardware, or make your OS generally unusable. (Extremely) unlikely, but possible. And for such a nightly build, no manual testing has been done whatsoever to help reduce this risk.

No. Posts above in the thread are wrong.
"This file is not commonly downloaded" is a warning from a cloud safety feature which calculates how many people downloaded particular software and warns you if the count is too low (because if that's the case, the file might be infected). A specific daily snapshot doesn't have many downloads for the obvious reason, thus the warning.

^ this
Do be aware that most users should use the stable release anyway, more stable and tested. Unless you need a cutting edge not released feature the use the stable one.

That message is from the browser. All it means is that's it's not on a whitelist of "things we're pretty sure aren't viruses".

EDIT: Ahh, I see this has already been covered.

As already stated the warning is due to it not being downloaded to be verified as being safe to download. There are no viruses in the actual download itself though.

The latest daily build can run some Sierra titles that can not be played with the latest stable release, some of these examples are;

Space Quest 6
Kings Quest VII
Police Quest: Open Season
Mixed Up Mother Goose Deluxe

I actually do in fact run the daily build over the stable release for ScuumVM as I do feel that the latest updates and games that the program supports makes it worthwhile, although I also do have an installation of the stable build as well.
