CharlesGrey: Would be nice if one of the Devs could explain how exactly this game mechanic works, and to what extent the player will be able to control or even deactivate it.
I will eat my helmet with ketchup and basil leaves if the second mod anyone makes for this game won't be the one that turns off the timer.

Looks like something i would play. When should we expect the "In Development" release?

According to game page, the release date is November 8, 2018.

Lionbum: You won't be able to deactivate it, and you have no real control over it. Well, you can control it by resisting Mr Fairweather's items and not being downed in combat.
The idea is that you will get to know and grow with these people, and thus their stories are even more touching and you feel much more attachment to them than run of the mill NPC's.
The game is very relaxing and there is plenty of time to do things (especially if you are efficient).
It's the whole idea though really...do you nurture your family, or try to run a lot of businesses chasing success? Do you spend your life wisely or fritter it away for material gain or fame?
What exactly happens if you get knocked out in combat? Anyhow, I think I'll have to wait for some lets-play videos to see if the game is my kind of thing, but thanks for the response!

What if it's the first mod, not the second? ... Oh, right -- nude mods. Silly question.

Mr Fairweather offers to revive you for the cost of 1 year of your life. All Dark Forests are named by difficulty so you know beforehand what you are getting into!
Don't pay for revive? If you have no heir, then it's game over!
Well, since the teaser showed absolutely not enough, I'm now intrigued, which I suppose means it was effective.

I've read the messages in this thread and the idea of ageing is something I'm looking forward. I'm sure it has been done before and I'll gladly take any suggestions about games that support a similar feature. The only ones that come to mind with something akin, and take that very lightly, are The Nomad Soul and Agarest : Generation of Wars. But those are more story related mechanisms than gameplay wise.

I'm not a big fan of the Fable serie so seeing a note about veterans on this game does rise some concerns. We'll see. I loved Stardew Valley and have been waiting for more Pixel art world to sink in. I wishlist and I'll follow that !

Neat. :D

Howdy! One of the Kynseed devs here.

Been a big fan of GOG for many years (this is just a shiny new account for dev stuff), and so it's a bit wild for me to actually have a game over here. Wanted to say a quick thanks for the replies and briefly chime in with more info below.

The trailer being used was from waaaay back in May for our earliest backer build and is probably more akin to a 'teaser' at the moment. So if you're thinking it's pretty light on details, you'd be right! The game's come a long way over the months and yours truly will be creating a proper trailer for our initial release on Nov 8th.

Art is also something that'll be getting refined the further along we go. Our main goal was to stay away from the traditional tileset grid look. Everything in the world is hand placed to give it a more organic feel (even most of the trees are uniquely made), but there's still a ways to go until it's as polished as we'd like.

As for the team's Fable heritage, we're but a small slice of Lionhead's full Fable team - which at its peak was over 200! Neal is our programmer and worked as a coder for Black & White 2 and nearly every Fable game. Charlie is our designer who cut his teeth as a tester on Black & White and later ended up building the Albion of Fable 2 & 3. (His username is Lionbum because he quite literally lived at Lionhead in secret for 9 days.) I work in production and helped with the Fable community for over a decade. We also have other fine folks including some Fable concept artists and even our title music was made by Fable composer Russel Shaw.

Though even with the team's history, Kynseed is still an ambitious game and in many ways its journey is only just beginning. What enamored us the most about early access was giving players a chance to have meaningful impact on a game's development. We've always felt there's a right way and a wrong way to do an early access game - a sentiment anyone who's played early access titles can probably relate to. So to do this the right way, we're developing core parts of the game one step at a time so that the game's development never outpaces the community's feedback.

We're pretty obsessed with being as approachable a team as possible, so feel free to say hello wherever you find us. My favorite place is our Discord (Discord.gg/PixelCount) where we can be found almost every day and where our DM's are always open. As our GOG page says: for better or worse, you can expect us to talk to you with the same honesty and candor as a coworker: with plenty of cursing and sarcasm.

TL;DR:
Yo. One of the devs here. Kynseed's a large game and still has a long ways to go but we welcome you to hang out with us in the meantime. We're unusually talkative and could use the company.

Hello !

Glad to read from the dev team =)

Hope I did not offend anyone with my Fable remark. Rest assured that even if I did dislike Fable as a serie I did love to an obsession Black & White ! And of course, realized your are not the same exact team, well, I'll stop there.

That being said, I sure hope players will find the time to communicate with you. It's pretty rare to be trully involved in a developpement in any kind I feel like. I don't have much to bring to the edifice but I sure hope others can and will :)

I suppose to any non-backers, Discord would be the best place to get fresh news on the game ? I might come lurk a bit.

Hope you guyz the best ;)

Lionbum: ~snip
I am doing a little decluttering as we speak....Level Designer art from someone new to PixelArt.
Am tidying up the playable area grass a little, but we do want that organic, painterly mess as long as it is clear to the player what is what.
Thank you for the feedback.
thank you for coming on here and answering questions, I always appreciate dev input into forums regarding their games. Will definitely give it another look once the decluttering has taken place, as the game seems very promising. cheers

Will Kynseed be DRM free?

The finished full version of Kynseed will have a DRM free option available. In addition to any other platforms that we hope to support, we will also offer a DRM free copy of the game through either our own website or through the fine folks at GOG.com, pending approval.
